What a BEAUTIFUL flea market! Some time last year I stumbled upon mention of the Fancy Flea Market. I was blown away when I found out one of the top rated lovely flea markets was located in Lakeland FL only 30 minutes from my home! Last November I went to check it out, and quickly decided I wanted to be apart of it! I'll be honest though. I threw everything together in like TWO WEEKS. UGH. I was hoping to be much better planned and have more to sell, but It just did not work out that way. I invited Karen Hillman to bring some things to set up with me. I was lucky to have her there, because otherwise I don't know if I would have been able to fill the booth. Next time I will be better prepared.

More than anything I was just really excited to decorate the tent (te hehe) and go hang out. I told Karen I wanted to go with a bit of a bright sorta shabby but Gypsy feel. I think we pulled it off pretty good. I covered the whole tent with lace and vintage crochet. I attached a few bright vintage pieces to look like patches. I also made a rag garland of fun and funky new and vintage fabrics for the front of the tent.

I made bright pom poms for the top of the tent for a pop of color.

Then inside we layered random scarfs, lace and table cloths.

Because I was so excited to just enjoy the environment with artful friends, I did put some time into making yummy snacks for us! I made little cute bags of peanuts,
(my friend Molly's darling little girl Lily)
chocolate covered sprinkled pretzel rods, water bottles wrapped in vintage wallpaper

and yummy flavored tea in mason jars.

There where 3 different flavors, and each had it's own tag I designed them with the name of the tea and a short description of the flavor. When my husband saw this he rolled his eyes. I said to him "WELL, it is the FANCY flea! Right ??!!" Later he admitted how neat he thought it was, but yes YES I know I have a problem. PERHAPS if I was not so concerned about pretty jars of tea, my table would not look so empty lol.

Karen and I each had a table. This is Karen's pretty FULL table.

This was my NOT SO FULL table! lol Well, you know in my defense the tea was a hit! And in the heat was a much needed treat.

We both filled suitcases with treasures. I made some of my fake cakes, hand dyed ribbon, and mosaics. I also had a lot of new and vintage fabric and lace that I did "fill a bag for $5.00"

I made a few soldered necklaces too. Each had a cute saying on the back.

I also made some gypsy style handbags.

Karen had a variety of handmade and vintage things. Here clothing was a real hit!

I really loved this picture too!

We also tried to dress the part a little. Including embellished boots. Our sweet friend Molly took this photo of us toward the end. lol we had lost a few layers by then due to the heat.

I did not have much time to shop, but here are a few treasures I picked up. A neat stool with pretty fabric, a neat vintage box, patio chair, and old drawer I'm going to use as a planter. All lovely in there imperfect states, just how I like it! My husband has already tried talking me into reupholstering my patio chair, I said NO! he said "LOOK it's ripped! And that blue!!" I replied " I know. That's exactly why I want them!" He said then I am not allowed putting them on the front porch, but we'll see about that!

I had a blast, and will probably do it again. I will be uploading some of the things I came home with in my Etsy shop soon, such as this handbag. I will post once I do.
Thanks so much for stopping by to see me :)
